Pantone Color Chart PDF

Generate a free Pantone color chart PDF from this site's catalog. Choose from three presets — one color per family (14 colors, 1 page), top 100 by popularity (3 pages), or the full Solid Coated catalog (2,371 colors, ~50 pages) — or paste specific Pantone codes to build a custom PDF. Everything runs client-side via jsPDF; no upload, no login, no watermark.

What is a Pantone color chart PDF?

A Pantone color chart PDF is a digital reference document that lists Pantone colors with their codes, HEX values, and RGB values in a printable layout. The official Pantone Color Bridge and Solid Coated guides cost hundreds of dollars and come as physical swatch books — the swatches are printed on the exact paper stocks that print services use, so the colors you see are authoritative. A PDF chart cannot match that fidelity, but it can serve as a reference document for browsing the catalog, as a starting point for building palettes, and as a printable reference for design conversations where the exact Pantone color is not the critical decision.

This page generates PDFs from our catalog of 2,371 Solid Coated colors. Each swatch shows the Pantone code, name, and HEX value — enough to identify the color and look it up further. The generated PDF is a client-side document: it is never uploaded to any server, never logged, and never watermarked. You can generate as many as you want, for any subset of colors, with no account and no rate limits.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a preset — 14 colors for a quick reference, top 100, full catalog, or custom.
  2. For custom, paste Pantone codes (with or without the "C" suffix), HEX values, or names — one per line or comma-separated.
  3. Preview updates live — check the color count and page estimate.
  4. Click "Download PDF" and wait. For small presets, the download is instant; for the full catalog, it takes 10–30 seconds while the browser generates the pages.
  5. The PDF saves to your Downloads folder as pantone-colors.pdf.

How the PDF is generated

The page uses jsPDF — a pure-JavaScript PDF generation library loaded from CDN — to build the document entirely in your browser. Each selected color is drawn as a filled rectangle (using the sRGB RGB values from our catalog) with the Pantone code and HEX text below it. Pages are A4 (210 × 297 mm) with 10 mm margins, giving 190 × 277 mm of usable area. The layout uses a 5 × 8 grid of swatches, so each page holds 40 colors. For 2,371 colors, that is about 60 pages.

The document has a cover page with the title, generation timestamp, and a brief note that the chart is a digital approximation (not a replacement for physical Pantone swatches). Subsequent pages hold the swatch grid. No font is embedded — the PDF uses jsPDF's built-in Helvetica, which renders identically on any viewer. The resulting file is typically 500 KB for the 14-color preset and 3–4 MB for the full catalog.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Pantone color chart PDF?

A Pantone color chart PDF is a printable reference document that displays Pantone colors with their codes, HEX, and RGB values. Unlike the official Pantone color books (which are sold as physical swatch books for hundreds of dollars), a PDF chart is a digital approximation that lets you browse, print, and annotate the Pantone range without buying the physical book. It is useful for color reference, moodboards, client presentations, and design documentation — but it is not a substitute for physical Pantone chips when color accuracy matters.

How many pages will the PDF be?

It depends on what you include. The 14-color "one per family" preset produces a single-page PDF. The 100-color preset produces about 3 pages. The full 2,371-color chart produces approximately 50 pages — comparable in size to the physical Pantone color book, though much smaller in cost. The "Custom" mode produces one page per ~40 colors you include.

Why is the PDF slow to generate for the full chart?

Because jsPDF is a client-side library and the browser has to render 2,371 individual swatches (each with a color rectangle, name label, and HEX text) across ~50 pages. Generating a full chart takes roughly 10–30 seconds on a modern laptop and longer on older devices. The browser will show a loading indicator — do not close the tab. If you only need a few colors, use the smaller presets.

Are the colors in the PDF accurate?

They are accurate to the HEX approximations in our catalog, which are themselves approximations of the physical Pantone inks. The PDF renders the same sRGB HEX values you see on screen. When printed, the colors depend on your printer, paper, and print settings — a PDF rendered to a standard office printer will not match a Pantone chip. For color-accurate printing, use a professional print service that supports Pantone spot colors.

Can I print the PDF and use it as a Pantone swatch book?

For rough reference, yes. For color-accurate work, no. A PDF printed on an office printer or even a professional digital press cannot reproduce the Pantone ink standards exactly — the colors will be close but not authoritative. Pantone sells physical swatch books for a reason: they are printed on coated and uncoated stocks with specific Pantone inks, which is the only way to see the true color. Use this PDF as a reference, not as a replacement for physical chips when accuracy matters.

Does the PDF work offline?

The PDF download itself is generated entirely in your browser, so once the page has loaded (including the jsPDF library from our CDN), you can disconnect from the internet and still generate and download PDFs. The jsPDF library is cached by your browser after first load, so subsequent visits work fully offline.
