Frequently asked questions

Are the color games free?+

Yes. All six games are free, with no login, no ads, and no data collection. They run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your scores are saved only in your browser's localStorage, never sent to any server.

How are the games scored?+

All games use Delta E 2000, the current CIE standard for perceptual color difference, to compute how close your answer is to the target. Delta E 0 is a perfect match (100 percent score). Each unit of Delta E reduces the score by about five points, reaching zero at Delta E 20.

What is the difference between Color Guesser and Color Memory Game?+

Color Guesser shows you the target color the entire time, so you can compare your guess and adjust continuously. Color Memory Game shows the target for only three seconds, then hides it - you have to recreate the color from memory. Memory Game is significantly harder because you cannot iterate.

What is Dialed?+

Dialed is a daily color challenge in the Wordle format. Every day at midnight UTC, a new set of five colors is generated deterministically from the date. Every player worldwide sees the same colors and gets one play per day. You can share your result as an emoji grid without spoiling the answers.

Can I play the games on mobile?+

Yes. All six games are fully responsive and work on phone, tablet, and desktop. The slider-based games work well with touch. The daily challenge in Dialed works especially well on mobile because it can be shared as text.

Do the games help me get better at color work?+

Yes, informally. Color Guesser trains your perception of hue, saturation, and brightness differences. Color Memory Game trains short-term visual memory, which is the same skill designers use when they match a color from a reference to a color picker. The trivia games (Toon Tone, Flag Tone, Logo Tone) build general color awareness.
