Color Converters

All 31 color converters on this site, organized by system. Six Pantone converters match any input value to the closest Solid Coated color. Six basic converters handle HEX, RGB, and CMYK directly. Six extended converters cover HSL, HSV, and LAB. And thirteen more handle cross-system matching to RAL, NCS, paint brands, and textile TCX. Every matching converter uses Delta E 2000 for perceptual accuracy.

Frequently asked questions

How many converters are on this site?+

There are 31 converters organized into 7 groups. The largest group is the 6 Pantone converters (HEX, RGB, CMYK, and reverse). Other groups cover basic color model conversion, extended CSS-native color models, RAL Classic, NCS, paint brands (Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore), and textile TCX.

Which converter should I use?+

If you have a color value and want a Pantone match, use HEX to Pantone, RGB to Pantone, or CMYK to Pantone depending on your input format. If you have a Pantone code and want a digital value, use Pantone to HEX, RGB, or CMYK. For cross-system matching (RAL, NCS, paint brands), use the specific converter for that target system.

What color matching algorithm do these converters use?+

All matching converters use Delta E 2000 in CIELAB space, the current CIE standard for perceptual color difference. This is more accurate than the older Delta E 1976 metric used by most competitor sites, especially for saturated blues and purples. Converters that do not involve Pantone matching (like HEX to RGB) use exact mathematical conversion.

Are the conversions exact?+

Conversions between color models (HEX ↔ RGB, CMYK ↔ RGB, and reverse) are exact when channel values are integers. Conversions involving Pantone are visual approximations, because Pantone colors are physical inks that no digital value matches exactly. The closest match is shown with a Delta E score, and for production work you should always verify against a physical Pantone chip.

Can I convert between Pantone and RAL, NCS, or paint brands?+

Yes. This site includes Pantone to RAL, Pantone to NCS, Pantone to Sherwin-Williams, and Pantone to Benjamin Moore converters, plus their reverse directions. All cross-system matches are visual approximations for design exploration, not official cross-references - none of the color standards publish official cross-system mappings.
