Frequently asked questions

What is a Pantone tool?+

A Pantone tool is any interactive utility that helps you work with Pantone colors: searching the catalog, converting values, matching colors, building palettes, checking contrast, or exporting a reference PDF. All tools on this site run entirely in your browser with no login, no ads, and no data upload.

Are these tools free?+

Yes. All tools are free, with no login, no subscription, and no ads. They run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your input values, images, and palette selections never leave your device.

What is the difference between Pantone Finder and Image to Pantone?+

The Pantone Finder is a text search tool: type a name or code and browse matching colors. Image to Pantone is the reverse: upload an image, click a pixel, and find the closest Pantone match. Use the Finder when you know what you are looking for; use Image to Pantone when you have a color from a photograph and need to identify it.

Which tools use Delta E 2000?+

Every tool that involves color matching (Image to Pantone, Pantone Finder, Color Shades Generator, Compare Colors) uses Delta E 2000, the current CIE standard for perceptual color difference. This produces more accurate matches than the older Delta E 1976 metric used by many competitor sites.

Can I use these tools on mobile?+

Yes. All tools are fully responsive and work on phone, tablet, and desktop. Image to Pantone includes a mobile camera capture button for taking photos directly. The Pantone Birth Chart PNG export is optimized for sharing on social media from mobile.

Do the tools work offline?+

Most tools run entirely client-side and work offline after the page has loaded. Image to Pantone, Palette Builder, Color Shades Generator, Compare Colors, Contrast Checker, and Pantone Finder all work without an internet connection once loaded. Download PDF works offline only if the jsPDF library has been cached by your browser from a prior visit.
